摘 要:
For over two hundred years, scientists have attempted to understand the influence that the Sun has on climate variability. Many reported relations have been found to break down and even reverse when additional observations have become available. More recently, human causes of climate change, such as aerosols and anthropogenic carbon dioxide have been suggested as the primary means of driving anomalous temperatures.
In this presentation, fluid dynamical arguments will be used to describe how linear perturbations can lead to complex responses that are currently beyond our ability to model adequately. Examples from solar-terrestrial forcing experiments will be given to illustrate this point. Also this theory will shed new light on the role of carbon dioxide in redistributing energy in the Earth’s atmosphere.
